Frankfurt am Main | May 10, 2023. P3 Logistic Parks, a leading developer and long-term owner of logistics real estate in Europe, has already fully let its property in Ebersbach an der Fils near Stuttgart in Germany at the start of construction. The food retailer Lidl will use the around 39,000 square meter logistics property in Ebersbach from 2024.
The property, which is strategically located due to its proximity to the airport and the motorway, comprises around 33,000 square meters of storage space, as well as additional mezzanine, social and office space. The property has been in the construction phase since the end of 2022, with the site being decontaminated following the demolition of the former building stock. After the completion of the property, which is planned for the end of the year, Lidl will set up the warehouse in early 2024 and then put it into operation.
Sönke Kewitz, Managing Director of P3 Logistic Parks Germany, says: "Even if the sealing of new areas in Germany has been constantly declining in recent years, it is important to continue to reduce them. One approach to this is the revitalization of abandoned industrial sites. In line with the EU soil strategy, it is therefore our goal to develop sites, especially brownfield sites, and to design them for sustainability from the very first construction step. This strategy is paying off, which can be seen in our fully let portfolio in Germany or here in the P3 Park Ebersbach.”
Philipp Dedorath, Managing Director of Logistics Real Estate at Lidl in Germany, says: "In the past we have already built numerous construction projects on brownfield sites, such as most recently in St. Ingbert or currently in Herne and Bietigheim. Here in Ebersbach, too, we are committed to the sustainable revitalization of such areas. The old brownfield sites help to prevent new areas from being sealed and to use them sensibly. At the same time, we counteract the shortage of space and rely on existing infrastructures.”
The P3 Park Ebersbach, currently the largest plot of land in the greater Stuttgart area, on which a new logistics building is being built, is planned sustainably and designed according to the standards of the BREEAM classification "Excellent". In this way, ecological sustainability is taken into account over the entire life cycle of the building.
